  • Initially, let your infant explore the toy and observe what happens. Does your baby discover how to make a sound? If not, give verbal hints, without directly demonstrating - and see if your little one can figure it out.  
  • If your infant is struggling, demonstrate how to shake the rattle to make a noise. 
  • Use lots of encouraging language and praise.  
  • Show your infant some other household objects that may be shaken to create a noise - i.e. uncooked pasta in a Tupperware box. Compare the different sounds and encourage your little one to have lots of fun making noise!
