12+ months

Let your toddler explore the instrument independently at first - can they discover the sounds it makes? .
Assist your infant if necessary, drawing attention to the different ways they can make a sound - either by using the keys with their fingers or striking the metal plates with the accompanying sticks.
Talk about the different colours and draw attention to the different sounds each key makes.
Encourage your child to make loud, creative music!

18+ months

Sit with your child and show them the music sheets. Explain that each 'note' represents the colour on the keyboard.
Demonstrate a simple series of notes and see if your child can copy you.
When they have become proficient in this - let them try to follow the music sheets themselves to create a distinctive tune.
Encourage music making and appreciation of the tunes by singing along.
You may also like to use one of our other musical instruments to join in with your child and create a band together. "
