  • Initially, let your infant explore the toy and observe what happens. Does your baby discover how to make a sound? If not, give verbal hints, without directly demonstrating - and see if your little one can figure it out.
  • If your infant is struggling, demonstrate how to squeeze the accordion to make a noise.
  • Point out how you are holding the accordion by the handles at both ends and encourage a tight grip.
  • Point out the different sounds the accordion can make when you turn the buttons at the end to create different notes. "
  • Encourage your baby to experiment with the sounds - with a lot of praise for success."
  • Try to use lots of simple vocabulary like press, push, hold, squeeze - and encourage your infant to call the toy an accordion. .
  • If the opportunity arises, point out pictures of real accordions."
