  • Encourage your child to move the character into different positions and transport the brick from one place to another
  • Ask your child simple questions such as 'can you make the head move?' 'can you help the worker to push his wheelbarrow?'
  • Encourage your child to talk about his or her new friend
  • Encourage independent play time

  • 18+ months

  • Encourage your child to explore the toy independently and discover which features move and make a sound - if necessary point out all the moving, clicking squeaking and rolling parts.
  • Talk about the character - what does a construction worker do? What is his wheelbarrow for? Why does he wear a hard hat?
  • Talk with your child about the character - encourage your child to assign personality traits to the construction worker by asking questions about him
  • Encourage lots of pretend play with the character. You may like to bring in other First Friends characters, vehicles and accessories - especially from the construction range to help create more elaborate scenes. Help to devise scenarios if necessary but also let your child take the lead with their ideas as much as possible.
